One of the many blessings of doing this podcast with my son Gregory has been our Guests. Each person we’ve had on our podcast has brought many wonderful things to our lives. Each person has taught me so much about myself as a parent, as a friend, as a member of the community and just who I am as a person. We started this podcast for fun. This was something we never really expected to go anywhere or do anything other than bring us closer together. However, we have found that the pay-off of doing this has been so far-reaching, it was and has been much more than we could have dreamed for ourselves. Because of our faith, I know God has brought these special individuals into our lives for his purpose.
You realize that as messy as life gets, as I look back to all the guests there is so much love in these families. How can I ever forget the single Mom, who’s son lost his father last year. She’s doing double duty as Mom and Dad to her 11-year-old son. The Mom who’s raising two adopted daughters with severe ADHD, you can hear the love that her daughter has for her mom. The single Dad who looks at his children with love and admiration, just trying to balance it all and the mom who’s working to get things right for her daughter’s future. It’s just mind-blowing how rewarding this has been.
One of the reason’s we moved Gregory to a small town was so that he could see that there were all kinds of families out there. Not everyone has a certain income or a privileged life. No one really knows what’s going on in a person’s life until you have an opportunity to listen to their stories. This is not that we need to feel sympathy for these people, but rather we need honor their stories by listening, offering support, doing all this while coming from a place of understanding, acceptance, and love.
So, for those of you who have been on our podcast, we are so very grateful for you. We love you and we pray for you. Please know that you have left your imprint on our hearts forever.
For those of you who support us in listening, giving us good ratings and recommending our podcast to others, THANK YOU! I always say it take a village to raise children, you are all our people, you are all our village, and we love you.
